As of March 1st, DOB is enforcing new construction safety training.
At a minimum, all workers or supervisors must have one of the following:
OSHA 10-hour; or
OSHA 30-hour; or
A 100-hour training program approved by the DOB
What happens if training isn't done?
Penalties • Fines • Stop Work Orders
Permit holders are required to attest to DOB that workers are trained.
Fines are $15,000 per untrained worker:
$5,000 for the owner
$5,000 for the permit holder
$5,000 for the employer and
$2,500 for permit holders failing to keep log of trained workers
DOB is planning unannounced site checks where untrained workers have been found and will target other jobs of permit holders in violation!
